Tips For Figuring Metal
Number of sheets
Divide the width or length of building by (3) to determine number of sheets needed for that section.
Example: Building is 30' long then you would take 30/3=10.
Total Linear Feet
Multiply number of sheets by length of each sheet.
Example: 10-13' sheets 10x13=130(linear feet)
5-16' sheets 5x16=80(linear feet)
Total=210(linear feet)
Total Metal Price
Multiply total linear feet by the linear feet price to get total metal price.
Trim and Accessories are figured seperately.
Example: 210 linear feet of Prime Metal 210'x$1.99=$417.90 (+ Tax)
Screws For Metal
Multiply Total Linear Feet by (2.5) for 2' centers.
Multiply Total Linear Feet by (1.875) for 3' centers.
Multiply Total Linear Feet by (1.25) for 4' centers.
Example: 2' centers 210'x2.5=525 screws
3' centers 210'x1.875=394 screws
4' centers 210'x1.25=263 screws
Screws For Trim
(Ridge Cap) Multiply number of Ridge Cap by 30.
(Corners) Total running feet equals number of screws.
Ridge Cap 5x30=150 screws
Corners 5x12'=60 screws
Insulation & Bubble Wrap
(2" Fiberglass)--Multiply Linear Feet by (.03167) then divide by (6) for number of rolls needed.
(Bubble Wrap)--Multiply Linear Feet by (.03167) then divide by (7.5) for number of rolls needed.
Example: 2" Fiberglass 210'x.03167=6.66/6=1.25 Rolls
Bubble Wrap 210'x.03167=6.66/7.5=1 Roll
*Multiplying The Total Linear Feet by (.03167) determines total square of metal.
